2000 sols for Oppy…

Today marks an important milestone for the Mars Exploration Rover mission. The second MER to land on Mars, “Opportunity”, has now been roving on the Red Planet for 2000 martian days, or “sols” as they’re known. This is truly an incredible achievement – the rovers were, as surely everyone knows by now, designed to last just 90 sols on Mars. They’re still going..!

To celebrate this remarkable achievement, my good friend AstroO from unmannedspaceflight.com has created another beautiful poster, combining one of his beautiful SFX images with the ramblings of some Mars-obsessed poet person… don’t know who he is… πŸ˜‰

You can find, and download, full size versions of the poster by going to AstroO’s blog…

Congratulations to everyone at NASA, and at JPL especially, for the success of this fascinating mission – and thanks for letting us ride along with you! πŸ™‚
