I’m off to work soon (boooo!) so here’s a very quick News Round up…

KEPLER LAUNCH GOES PERFECTLY!

This morning’s launch of the Kepler planet-hunting telescope went flawlesly! I’ll be writing a lot more about this soon (i.e. tomorrow) but in the meantime you can find full launch coverage¬†– well, everywhere online!

EDDINGTON AS SATURN WATCH – FAIL.

Last night, despite great publicity and promotion from our friends on Lakeland radio, The Bay, BBC Radio Cumbria and The Westmorland Gazette, the Cumbrian weather thwarted our latest attempts to show the people of South Lakes the wonders of the night sky. We had planned to set up ‘scopes and show people Saturn and the Moon from Bowling Fell Park, but by 7pm the sky was 1000% overcast and it had even started to rain, so no viewing was possible. Very disappointing, but nothing you can do, so now we cross our fingers for our next observing event, on Friday April 3rd at the Brewery Arts Centre, when we’ll be holding a “Moon Watch”.
