If you’re not busy next Saturday night and you’re in the Kendal area, why not come along and join us looking at the “Evening Star”?

WEATHER PERMITTING, from 6pm we’ll be at Kendal’s Abbot Hall Park – the park at the bottom of Gillingate – with telescopes next Saturday evening, all set up to look at, and show people, the planet VENUS, which is currently a beautiful sight in the western sky after sunset. Lots of people have been looking at the dazzling blue-white star blazing away above the treetops these past weeks wondering if it was just a bright star, or even the space station, or even a UFO! But of course it’s a planet, and if you come and take a look at it through our telescopes you’ll see it looks like a tiny crescent.

So, why not come along and help us celebrate the INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF ASTRONOMY by taking a look at Earth’s “sister planet” next Saturday!
