Aurora tonight?

Hmmm. I just received an email alert telling me that there’s a lot of “auroral activity” at the moment… no promises, but MIGHT be worth keeping an eye on the skty after dark tonight (Wed)…

If it’s the one I got (from Lancaster) then they’ve just issued an apology. Seems the alert was generated as a result of “human activity” at their field site.

Andrew, yes, aurora can come this far south though it’s pretty rare. See, for example, these from 2000:
