What, even in Manchester?
If it’s the one I got (from Lancaster) then they’ve just issued an apology. Seems the alert was generated as a result of “human activity” at their field site.
Just thought to add that it’s a pity it’s not for real as it was slightly plausible with the current large sunspot.
Andrew, yes, aurora can come this far south though it’s pretty rare. See, for example, these from 2000:
